Performance Contract

What is the Performance Contract?
Beginning January 1, 1993, Senate Bill 1383 (McCorquodale) required that the California Department of Developmental Services (DDS) enter into five-year performance based contracts with regional centers. The purpose of these contracts was for regional centers to work with the communities we serve to develop five-year goals and yearly objectives in nine performance standard areas. NLACRC completed its last five-year contract in 2004.

The performance contract was revised in 2002 to include public policy and compliance measures in areas such as community living options, employment, access, medical and dental service access, and audit accountability. Through annual public meetings, the community has the opportunity to suggest local outcomes for regional centers to include as part of their performance contracts.
