The Department of Developmental Services is looking for people who want to be Maintenance and Service Occupational Trainees (MSOT)
A maintenance and service occupational trainee is a state employee that gets on-the-job training at a developmental center. They are appointed for up to 9 months while they get on-the-job-training. There is no deadline however the sooner you apply, the sooner you can be considered for a job.

Information Mailed to Service Providers Regarding Securing Confidential Information & Data
NLACRC recently sent a mailing to service providers regarding best practices for protecting confidential, sensitive, and personal information. Additional information is posted on our Service Providers page.

Budget Update - Special Session to be called this week

The Governor will call the Legislature back in for a special session on Nov. 6th to deal with the
State budget crisis. The budget shortfall could be as high as $10 billion and growing and is expected to propose revenue increases and an economic stimulus package.

DDS asking for ornaments made by consumers for the State holiday tree
For more than 20 years, ornaments made by persons with developmental disabilities have adorned the state tree. This year DDS hopes to collect 2,000 ornaments. All ornaments must be received at DDS by Nov. 14, 2008.

Self-Directed Services
The Self-Directed (SD) program is "A means by which individuals who are eligible for state developmental disabilities services are empowered to gain control over the selection of services and supports, that meet their own needs."

Sport fishing license applications available for NLACRC consumers
The Calif. Dept. of Fish and Game has provided us with applications for free five-year sport fishing licenses that are available to NLACRC consumers. Licenses are required for individuals 16+ years of age. We have a limited supply available. For an application, please call (818) 756-6451.


Disneyland's Community Involvement Program Update
We hope to start mailing or e-mailing the ticket order forms soon to everyone who completed a Release of Information form. If you included your email address, be sure to check you email Nov. 7th through the 14th for ticket ordering information.


Family Cost Participation Program (FCPP) update
Legislation was passed in Feb. 2008 to include consumers ages 0 through 2, receiving services under the Calif. Early Intervention Services Act (Early Start Program). Visit the DDS web site to view the updated program guide and rates.
